Riley is an established personal trainer who works with high performing athletes to help them reach their maximum potential. Riley has roots in fitness dating back to his 6th birthday, when his martial arts instructor Uncle began teaching him kickboxing. His family has always kept in shape, Riley would often join in with his Mum’s home workouts from the age of 10 years old.
“I’ve always been a sporty kid from a young age. Nowadays I’m a boxer, so my own workouts usually consist of functional training which focuses on improving my performance as an athlete.”
Riley specialises in helping his clients to transform their bodies; whether that’s packing on muscle, slimming down, or getting shredded. Elite athletes are trained by Riley due to his immense understanding of functional training and other styles of training. He aims to improve his clients’ athleticism and overall performance in sports regardless of their current ability.
What is your favourite lift?
Has to be the barbell squat for me. You always feel strong when you’re doing it. It’s the best balance of fun and effectiveness. Everyone should have barbell squats in their training routine.
Who is your fitness idol?
I’d have to say Eliud Kipchoge. He’s a record-breaking long-distance runner who has the world record marathon time of 2:01:39. His philosophies and mindset towards fitness are brilliant. I’ve never seen an athlete with such a balance of focus and modesty.
If you could only use one piece of gym equipment for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Kettlebells. You can do everything with them. Strength building, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance. They’re definitely the most versatile piece of equipment. I didn’t really look twice at them until I’d finished my PT course. Then I realised how useful they are.
