We stock two types of weight bench: adjustable and FID (flat, incline, decline). Both lie completely flat for bench press, so you're getting everything a flat bench offers plus more ways to train.
Adjustable benches move from flat to upright, with a range of incline angles in between. This covers bench press, incline press, shoulder press, chest-supported rows and most dumbbell work. They're a good choice if you want a versatile bench at a lower price point, or if you need something compact.
FID benches add decline angles as well. Decline allows for lower chest pressing and core work, like weighted sit-ups and twists. In most cases, a FID bench is the better choice, since decline is there when you're ready to add it to your training.
When you compare benches, check three things: the load rating (your body weight plus the weight you lift), the number of angle settings and the bench's footprint to make sure it'll fit within your rack.
Take a look through our weight benches to find the right one for you. We've answered some common questions below, or you can reach out to our team over live chat if you need anything else.
01
What's the difference between a flat, adjustable and FID bench?
A flat bench has a fixed pad that stays level. An adjustable bench moves between flat and incline angles. A FID bench (flat, incline, decline) adds decline angles too, so it covers the most exercises. We only stock adjustable and FID benches, since a flat bench limits what you can train.
02
Which weight bench is best for a home gym?
A FID bench is the best all-round choice for most home gyms, since one bench covers flat, incline and decline training. The Phase 4 FID Bench is our most popular model, with 10 angle settings, a 300kg combined load rating and a commercial grade build that customers call "rock solid".
03
Can you bench press on an adjustable bench?
Yes, set the bench to a flat position and you can use it for a standard bench press. Double check that its load rating covers your body weight plus the bar before training.
04
Can I use a weight bench with a squat rack or Smith machine?
Yes, all our benches work with squat racks and Smith machines. Check the bench's length, width and height against the space inside your rack before you buy.
05
How much weight can your benches hold?
Our benches are rated for combined loads between 110kg and 300kg, depending on the model. Combined load is your body weight plus the weight you're lifting. Check the product page to find out the load rating of each bench.
06
Which of your benches have a decline setting?
Our Phase 3 FID Bench and Phase 4 FID Bench can both be set to a decline angle.
07
Do you sell folding weight benches?
Yes, the Phase 1 Adjustable Dumbbell Bench folds away when not in use, which makes it a popular choice for smaller home gyms and spare rooms.
08
What exercises can I do with a weight bench?
You can use a weight bench for bench press, shoulder press, chest-supported rows, Bulgarian split squats and more. We've listed 31 exercises you can do with a weight bench to get you started.
09
What size weight bench do I need?
Measure the floor space where your bench will live and compare it against the dimensions on each product page. If you'll use it inside a rack or under a Smith machine, check the bench's full footprint too.
10
What angle should an incline bench be?
Most people train incline exercises between 30 and 45 degrees. Lower angles put more focus on the chest, while steeper angles shift more emphasis to the shoulders. The Phase 4 FID Bench has 10 angle settings, so you can find an angle that suits you.
11
Do your weight benches come assembled?
None of our benches come fully assembled, but they're not challenging to build. You'll need a spanner and a socket wrench set, and each bench ships with a full instruction manual.
12
How heavy are weight benches and are they easy to move?
Our heaviest bench is 35kg, but it's easy enough to move thanks to a set of wheels and a handle.
13
Can I keep my weight bench in a garage?
Yes, though there are a couple of aftercare tips you should follow. Keep the garage dry and well ventilated to avoid moisture build-ups, and wipe down any sweat or condensation that gets on the bench's frame. We've covered weight bench maintenance in detail to keep your kit running smoothly.
14
Can I keep my weight bench outside?
No, store it indoors and keep it dry. Exposure to weather can damage the bench and will void its warranty.
15
What warranty do MuscleSquad weight benches come with?
All of our weight benches come with a one-year warranty against defects under normal use.
