Dumbbell & Weight Racks

Dumbbell and weight storage racks keep your gym organised. They can easily be overlooked during the planning stage, but you’ll notice their absence the moment you’re in the gym.

What you should know about weight storage racks

Having dedicated storage for your weights keeps all of your equipment accessible and tidy. What’s more, it frees up floor space for bodyweight, cardio and other movements.

Whether you’re looking for somewhere to store your dumbbells or need something to organise your weight plates, we’ve got you covered.

We’ve answered some common questions we receive below, and you can always reach out to our team if you’d like to speak about your gym space further.

FAQs

01

Why do I need a dumbbell storage rack?

Storage racks free up floor space, keep your gym organised and make weights easier to access. It’s the sort of thing you take for granted in the local gym, but is absolutely essential when building your home gym.

02

How many pairs of dumbbells can a storage rack hold?

Our dumbbell racks hold between 8 and 13 pairs. The Phase 1 Vertical Rack holds 8 pairs and the Phase 3 Two-Tier Rack holds 10 pairs of round dumbbells. The Phase 2 Three-Tier Rack holds 10 pairs of hex dumbbells, while the Heavy Duty version holds 13.

03

How much weight can a dumbbell rack hold?

Our dumbbell racks hold between 300kg and 1,200kg. The Phase 1 Vertical Rack holds 300kg, the Phase 2 Three-Tier Rack holds 600kg and the Phase 3 Two-Tier Rack holds 1,200kg. You’ll find the max load on each product page.

04

Should I get a vertical or horizontal dumbbell rack?

A horizontal rack is the more popular choice as long as you have the space for it. A vertical rack is the better choice if floor space is tight, though it doesn’t usually have the same weight capacity.

05

Which dumbbells fit on your storage racks?

It depends on the rack. The Phase 1 Vertical Rack is for hex dumbbells up to 20kg and the Phase 3 Two-Tier Rack is for round dumbbells only. The Phase 2 Three-Tier Rack and its Heavy Duty version take hex dumbbells.

06

Can I store kettlebells on a dumbbell rack?

No, kettlebells don’t fit on a standard dumbbell rack. This is because dumbbell racks tend to support the weight on either end and have an exposed middle where the handle goes. Kettlebells are best stored on a flat surface instead.

07

How do I store dumbbells in a small space?

Store vertically where possible to make the most of a small space. Our Phase 1 Vertical Rack holds eight pairs of dumbbells in a footprint of only 57.5 × 56cm.

08

How much space should I leave around a dumbbell storage rack?

Leave at least 60cm in front of the dumbbell rack to lift and return weights to it comfortably. If you’re placing a bench in front of the rack, increase this to 1 metre to factor in the leg space needed when performing seated and lying exercises.

09

Should I put a dumbbell rack on gym flooring?

Yes, placing your dumbbell rack on rubber gym flooring protects your floor from dropped weights and keeps the rack steady. Our gym flooring guide covers which type works best for your space.

10

Do you sell dumbbell sets with storage racks?

Yes, we sell storage racks with dumbbell sets so you can get everything you need in one purchase. If you’re starting out, our 3-20kg set with a vertical storage rack is a popular choice, while our 5-30kg set with two-tier storage is a favourite among more advanced lifters.

11

How can I keep my home gym tidy?

Use dedicated weight storage racks to keep your equipment off the floor. Vertical dumbbell racks are great when space is limited, and a lot of our squat racks come with in-built plate storage to hold your weight plates.

Keeping your weights off the floor will give you a safer, more comfortable training area.

12

Can I add weight storage to my squat rack?

Yes, using the space around your squat rack is one of the most efficient ways to house weight plates, not to mention it keeps them within reach when training. Check if your rack includes weight storage horns or whether you need to add these separately.

13

Do weight storage racks need assembly?

Yes, our weight storage racks require assembly, though they’re not difficult. Each rack comes with an instruction manual and a hardware pack with everything needed to put it together, and they’re one of the easier builds among our products.

14

Do you offer free delivery on weight storage racks?

Yes, orders over £250 qualify for free standard delivery to England, Wales and Scotland. Delivery charges for other locations are calculated at checkout.

15

What warranty comes with your weight storage racks?

Our weight storage racks come with a one-year warranty covering manufacturing and material defects, subject to our warranty terms.
